The
Tea Rose
by
Jennifer Donnelly
A
MUST READ!
Fiona Finnegan,
a remarkable heroine overcoming a lost love, pain, struggles,
murder, death, poverty, fear and more. Her never-ending dream
of owning her own teashop with her childhood sweetheart Joe, as
he worked in produce and she at a tea factory saving a little,
very little each payday so their dream of a teashop would come
true. The owner of the tea factory was against unions forming
in his establishment and when Fiona Father tried to help organize
one he was murdered. When she overheard how he died they were
after her she had to flee her home in Whitechapel London to America
as she feared for her own life.
When she reached
America there were new tragedies awaiting her. She was bound and
determined to beat all odds to open a teashop. Each step of the
way colorful characters emerge with their own stories, all touching
Fiona's life. I don't want to tell you details of this wonderful
action filled novel. I will tell you there are a few familiar
characters you will recognize one being Jack the Ripper. I recommend
this book, and you won't be sorry, as it is one of the best novels
I have read in ages. Jennifer Donnelly has done her history research
for sure.
There are
moments you want to cry and others where you want to cheer. This
melodrama will appeal to the reader of history, business people,
and the romantic and
of course the tea lover.
Now sit back
in your comfy chair as you won't be able to put this captivating
novel down, I couldn't. Don't forget fix yourself a pot of tea!
